29 beasts recovered

British Ambassador to Zim denies existence of sanctions

markcanning.jpgThe British Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Mark Canning has denied the existence of illegal economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by his government and its allies choosing to refer to them as only travel measures targeted at a few individuals.

British Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Mark Canning who was briefing journalists after a courtesy call on Vice President Cde John Landa Nkomo at his Munhumutapa offices in Harare denied that there are sanctions on Zimbabwe insisting that there are just restrictive measures. 


While Ambassador Canning refused to admit that there are illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, he however acknowledged their effects and said his country will this year unveil US$100 million for aid.

Ambassador Canning’s refusal of the existence of the sanctions is however in sharp contrast to the sentiments of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary David Milliband who in January admitted to the existence of sanctions saying,

HIFA preps at an advanced stage

Organisers of the countries premier Arts festival, Harare International Festival of Arts, HIFA, say all is set for the 11th edition of the show which is set for the 27th of April to the 2nd  of May, with big names in the entertainment industry such as Salif Keita and the Magnets, expected to take part.
