ZIBF embraces development agenda

The Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) has this year embraced the national development agenda that is meant to industrialise, mechanise and modernise the country. Running under the theme the book: ‘Creating the Future,’ the 2018 edition of the ZIBF to commence on the 24th on this month in Harare, is meant to uphold the national development agenda and the global sustainable development goals. ZIBF Interim Executive Board Chairperson, Mr Jasper Maenzanise said a number of international publishers have shown a keen interest in participating in this year’s edition of the fair. “The book fair this year goes along with national development thrust which focuses on industrialisation, mechanisation and modernisation. It also goes in handy with the AU Agenda 2063 that talks about the future and reducing poverty, among other things,” he said. Arts industry hope for new fortunes

Local artists in Masvingo have appealed to the new minister to pay more recognition to their sector and also prioritise it in the allocation of resources. Charles Austin Theatre Arts Director, Ketani Banda said any given country has got talent but it is how that talent is nurtured that determines the outcome. Musician, radio and television personality Tafadzwa Bheni known in the music circles as Shuggetta has released a new single titled, ‘Amen’, after years of silence. Radio Zim roadshow pulls huge crowd

The excessive heat experienced over the weekend did not deter hundreds of Radio Zimbabwe listeners from attending a road show at Hama business centre in Chirumanzu. Tthe road show was held in conjunction with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ). Some walked for over 5 km in the scorching heat to get to Hama business centre for an opportunity to meet their radio personalities, let alone know their rights when it comes to telecommunications.  For some, it was a great platform to showcase their dancing skills. Indian community celebrates culture

The rich Indian musical and cultural mix was at display at the Zimbabwe Sunshine City Festival in Harare yesterday. In an effort to deepen the cultural ties between Zimbabwe and India, the Indian Embassy organised a festival in Harare attended by hundreds of Zimbabweans where the rich and diverse Indian music and culture was displayed. Speaking to the ZBC News, the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Masakui Rungusung said relations between the two countries should not be limited to politics only but should extend to other spheres like culture.
