Vice President Kembo Mohadi has urged both the public and private sector to take advantage of vast opportunities presented by participating at the Technology and Innovation Fare Expo 2020 Dubai set for the 20th of October 2020 to the 10thof April 2021.
He made the remarks at the launch of the Zimbabwe Expo 2020 Dubai held in the capital Thursday (yesterday) night.
Expo 2020 Dubai, a showcase of innovation solution to global challenges takes place every 5 years and in 2020 Dubai hosts the mega event which is expected to attract 192 countries and 25 million visitors.
Vice President Mohadi said the expo is a global platform that should be utilised to showcase investment opportunities, brand Zimbabwe and its diverse cultural heritage.
“Expo 2020 benefits are numerous. It provides the local industry, SMEs, creative and tourism sector a marketing opportunity. Zimbabwe is a rich country whose wealth has not been fully utilised and everyone has a role to play, we have to reach out across boundaries and let people know the country is open for business,” he said.
Senior advisor director general office Expo 2020 Dubai Moosa Al Hasheim said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is looking forward to a strong and lasting partnership with Zimbabwe beyond Expo 2020 Dubai.
“Zimbabwe and the UAE have strong ties and a number of bilateral agreements have been signed between the two nations. We are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership that benefits all,” Hasheim said.
Director Technical Cooperation UAE Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Rashed Alhemeiri said Zimbabwe has vast investment opportunities and there is need for the country to intensify its marketing strategies.
“The world awaits to hear more about Zimbabwe is open for business and as the UAE we consider Zimbabwe as a strategic partner as we share a common vision in terms of attracting foreign direct investment,” he said.
The event saw tertiary institutions including the National university of Science and Technology (NUST), Bulawayo and Mutare Polytechnic Colleges, who came up with creative designs for Zimbabwe’s expo pavilion in Dubai, winning prize money.
