Candidates vying for political office in various seats to represent the Norton electorate in the 2018 harmonised polls have commended the Zimbabwe Republic Police for initiating a march for peace campaign saying it was in line with the aspirations of the generality of the populace.
It was a sight worth beholding when various political parties contesting for the same seats in the forthcoming harmonised polls in Norton constituency marched together side by side in their different party regalia for a common cause – peace.
Some of the contestants in the imminent polls hailed the march for peace campaign and implored the electorate and their colleagues to maintain peace, even after the election outcome.
Zimbabwe’s 2018 harmonised polls are a test for the country’s democracy with the new order inviting several countries and organisations among them the European Union and the United States of America to participate as observers for the elections.
The polls will be the first ones to be held after the resignation of long serving President Mr Robert Mugabe.
