The provincial committee on environment has been challenged to put up comprehensive management strategies that can restore Harare back to its ‘Sunshine City’ status.

Harare Metropolitan Province committee on environment comprising representatives from City of Harare, Epworth local board, EMA, ZINWA, Ruwa local board and Chitungwiza Municipality must work towards crafting a comprehensive environmental management programme that will address the issue of garbage in the streets as they have become an eyesore to the public.

Minister of State for Harare Province, Cde Miriam Chikukwa who officially opened the one day environment workshop said all parties must work towards a concerted effort to restore order in Harare by ensuring that vendors are designated market stalls.

Harare has been burdened by poor service delivery which has compromised its sunshine status as garbage, poor sanitation and water challenges has become a menace in the backdrop of an ever increasing population.
