Traditional leaders in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe (UMP) have appealed to the government to consider people from the area for resettlement as the district does not have any commercial farms.
UMP is one of the few districts in Mashonaland East without any commercial farms and people from the area have to go to other districts for resettlement which has resulted in a large number in need of land.
Chief Nyajinya who was representing traditional leaders at a Zanu PF meeting at Manyika Business Centre said land for resettlement is one of their biggest needs.
Zanu PF provincial chairperson Cde Joel Biggie Matiza said rural development is one of the priority areas in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s development agenda.
UMP is one of Zanu PF’s strongholds and has always produced the highest number of votes for the ruling party.
