Mazie farmers are set to rake in RTGS$726 per metric tonne when they deliver their grain to the Grain Marketing Board this year following government’s approval of new producer prices.

Cabinet has approved the proposal by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement to review producer prices for maize, small grains, wheat, soya beans and cotton.

The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa said the proposed price for maize and small grains has been set at RTGS$726 per metric tonne.

The price for wheat has been set at RTGS$1 089.69, soya bean RTGS$918 and cotton at RTGS$1 950 per metric tonne.

 Minister Mutsvangwa said cabinet also approved the 38.5 percent subsidy on the selling price to millers be maintained   to prevent increases in the retail prices.
