caaz logo.jpgThe Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has expressed optimism that it will complete the rehabilitation of the Harare International Airport taxiway by February 2011, with half the work having been done so far.

The taxiway rehabilitation project, which is part of CAAZ’s ongoing initiative in sprucing up several of its airports across the country, is being implemented using the 18 million loan facility accessed from government.

CAAZ Director of Airports, Engineer Jerry Ndlovu said the authority is satisfied with progress made in the rehabilitation of the taxiway, adding that the projected is expected to be completed by February next year.

“We are plased with progress taking place in phase one of the taxiway rahabilitation project. We have already channeled substantial funds towards the project,” said Mr Ndlovu.

Engineer Ndlovu indicated that efforts are being made towards attracting additional capital for phase two of the airport revamping exercise.

Government has prioritized the provision of sound and reliable infrastructure through investing in infrastructure development projects by both the private and public sectors.
