The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe says more airlines will start plying the Victoria Falls route after the airport upgrade which is expected to attract tourists in the resort town.
The introduction of flights in Zimbabwe by major airlines is a boost to the country’s tourism industry which continues to register high growth rates.
Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) Board Chairman, Advocate Thembinkosi Magwaliba said more airlines will introduce flights from Kenya to Victoria Falls next month, while others will opt for the Victoria Falls – Cape Town route.
Since its commissioning, Victoria Falls International Airport, accommodates long haul flights from around the globe, has attracted major airlines from the region.
The state of the art airport’s features include the new international terminal building, a four kilometre long runway, new control tower and a refurbished domestic terminal with a capacity to handle 1,5 million passengers per annum.
