Commuter omnibus operators in Bulawayo have dismissed as false and misleading, messages circulating on social media insinuating the operators are planning a strike.

Speaking to ZBC News, representatives of three major operators in Bulawayo, BUPTA, Tshova Mubaiwa and BCT said the messages are malicious and meant to tarnish the image of the organisations.

One of the whatsapp messages reads as follows: “As Bupta, Tshova Mubaiwa and BCT, we have unanimously agreed on downing tools and suspending operations with effect from Wednesday 22 May 2019.”

A snap survey by ZBC News in Bulawayo’s Central Business District revealed that there was normalcy.
