The Bulawayo City Council says it liaising with owners of unregistered vehicles on how to formalise their operations in order to bring sanity in the central business district.

While illegal transport operators have wreaked havoc in Harare, the City of Bulawayo has largely been spared of the chaos characterised by the unregistered vehicles ferrying passengers.

Bulawayo mayor Councillor Martin Moyo says they intend to take a proactive approach, engaging transporters with a view to coming up with mechanism to register and monitor such operators.

Globally, the rise in the urban population has led to cities adopting strategies to maintain the smooth flow of traffic.
