The Buy Zimbabwe Campaign, which is aimed at increasing the production and competitiveness of locally produced goods and services in the local and international markets, has been launched in Harare this Wednesday.
The launch comes following consultations involving business representative organisations, consumers and the government to restore local productivity as well as increase the availability of locally produced commodities and services.
The Minister of State in Vice President Joice Mujuru’s office, Cde Sylvester Nguni, who was the guest of honour at the launching ceremony, told ZBC News that the government is committed to the success of the campaign.
“Government is really committed to facilitate the growth of this noble plan,†said Cde Nguni.
Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) Executive Director, Ms Rosemary Siyachitema said the Buy Zimbabwe Campaign should assist companies in increasing production and restoring consumer confidence on locally produced goods and services.
“We hope this facility will be crucial for the growth of companies,†said Ms Siyachitema.
The Buy Zimbabwe Campaign has been launched at a time when economic observers are calling for the recapitalisation of companies to increase production.
