The business community has hailed government for coming up with a pro-business theme for the 37th independence anniversary celebrations saying this is in sync with the desire to foster economic transformation through increased production.

The 37th independence anniversary celebration is premised on the theme: ‘Embracing Ease of Doing Business for Socio-economic Development’.

Government and the private sector have been pushing for an improvement in the ease of doing business with some of the targets having been achieved such as reducing the number of days it takes to register a business.

Industrialist Mr Simon Takainga says the theme of this year’s celebrations dovetails with developments on the ground adding that government policies have offered an opportunity for businesses to flourish.

Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce president Mr Davison Norupiri says pushing the ease of doing business agenda is critical but all stakeholders must take part in the drive for socio-economic development.

The 37th independence anniversary gives the local business community an opportunity to reflect on the journey travelled especially the indigenisation and economic empowerment which has seen the growth of indigenous owned businesses.
