As the nation gears up for the 32rd independence celebrations under the theme, “Indigenisation and Empowerment for Social and Economic Transformation”, the business community has commended the country’s leadership for benchmarking this year’s celebrations on indigenisation.

Former Affirmative Action Group president, Mr Supa Mandiwanzira said the attainment of independence and the land reform programme has culminated in the empowerment agenda which is the second phase of independence as citizens are benefitting from resources in their areas through the acquisition of equity.

Great Africa president, Mr Rutendo Rutendo said the setting up of the community share trusts is evidence of the seriousness by government in ensuring a broad-based empowerment programme.

On the 18th of this month, Zimbabweans will converge at different centres to celebrate 32 years of freedom with people being called upon to maintain the spirit of nationalism.
