passport offices.jpgCivil servants at the Registrar General’s Office have continued to report for work despite calls by the Apex Council leadership for government workers to go on strike.

When ZBC News visited Makombe Complex where the offices are housed, people who were being served expressed satisfaction with the manner they were being attended to and called upon teachers to emulate their counterparts as they continue engaging their employer.

“We have not faced any problem at all and I personally managed to get my national I.D today,” said one man.

Government gave US$240 million towards civil servants’ salaries, but government employees have maintained that the amount is too low.

However, at some schools in the capital, teachers did not turn up for lessons and those who did, were not conducting lessons.

The responsible Minister, Ms Lucia Matibenga has been evading both the civil servants’ representative bodies and the media to give a clear picture on the issue since last week.
