Albert Nyathi Talent Search (ANTS) has announced the impending 2017 inaugural edition to be held at Msitheli Secondary School in Bulawayo on the 29th of this month which students will compete in the performance and written poetry, dance, singing, acting and comedy categories.

Nyathi will host the second and rebranded ANTS in honour of his late father who passed away on 17 April 2017.

ANTS, previously known in 1998 and 1999 as Imbongi Arts Talent initiative seeks to identify, nurture, and promote talented young performance artists and it is inspired by the new primary and secondary education curriculum that gives prominence to performance of arts.

The main objective is to facilitate preservation of Zimbabwean intangible cultural heritage.

For the written poetry and fine arts the theme is, “Health Conservation” and the deadline for fine arts is on the 26th of July while that of poetry is on the 27th at Msiteli High School addressed to Mrs Gwasunda.

Schools are allowed to compete in all categories but cannot register more than 2 acts per category, each act having not more than 3 minutes on stage.

Arts winners will receive monetary prizes, trophies as well as getting support to compete in the Zimbabwe Champions of Performing Arts, an affiliate of the World Championships of the Performing Arts which take place in Hollywood every July each year.
