The Bulawayo Book Fair that was last held in 2014 has returned after two years of absence as the Zimbabwe International Book Fair Association steps up efforts improve the viability of the local book industry.
Financial challenges have been affecting the holding of book fairs in Zimbabwe, with only the Harare fair being the only event held every year.
Zimbabwe International Book Fair Association Executive Board Chairperson, Mr Blazio Tafirei said the Bulawayo Book Fair, which rolls into life this Thursday, marks an aggressive campaign to promote the growth of the local book industry, adding that Mutare and Harare book fairs are also scheduled to take place this year.
Mr Tadirei also said the Bulawayo Book Fair will have a number of activities and workshops in order to promote business linkages as well as finding lasting solutions to problems bedeviling the local book industry.
The book fair is running under the theme: ‘Making the Book Pay – The Economics of the Book.’
