Villagers is Buhera Central are calling for serious consideration towards the completion of Chadzire bridge that was destroyed by rains in 1996.

The villagers say they are continuously facing transport problems to ferry their produce to the market place.

It is now 21 years since Chadzire bridge was destroyed by heavy rains in 1996 and the construction of a new bridge has suffered several hiccups.

Villagers around the area said the absence of a bridge to link Buhera and Mutare has forced many transport operators to shun the route and farmers are finding it difficult to transport their market gardening produce to the nearest markets.

A visit to supposed site for the new bridge exposed neglect as construction material believed to have been availed by villagers in 2013 for the speedy rebuilding process lie abandoned.

The councillor for ward 18, Cde Wisdom Jiri noted development has been heavily affected due to the prolonged time being taken to construct Chadzire bridge.

Many villagers in ward 18 and 20 rely on market gardening as a source of sustenance but the absence of a bridge to transport their produce to markets in Mutare has made life difficult for many.
