The late Brigadier General Emilio Munemo has been declared a national hero.

Delivering the message to the family at their residents in Hatfield this evening, Vice President Kembo Mohadi said members of the Zanu PF Politburo unanimously agreed on the Brigadier General Munemo’s hero status as they testified on his contribution to the country both before and after independence.

Vice President Mohadi said burial arrangements will be announced after consultation with the family.

Brigadier Munemo (64), who was the Director General Civil Military Relations at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) headquarters, died on Sunday after being ill for some time.

A veteran of the liberation struggle, Brigadier General Munemo was instrumental in the establishment of the ZDF Civil Military Relations Department.

He is survived by nine children and seven grandchildren.

Mourners are gathered at number 48 Alexandra Drive, Hatfield, Harare.
