High Court judge Justice Edith Mushore has nullified the appointment of Nelson Chamisa as MDC president.
Justice Mushore also ruled that the appointment of Elias Mudzuri as party vice president by the late opposition leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai is null and void.
The High Court judge ruled that all appointments and reassignments by the late president of the MDC Mr Tsvangirai were unconstitutional and therefore null and void.
The court also ordered the MDC to hold an extra ordinary congress within a month.
The ruling comes after a member of the MDC Elias Mashavira, had dragged the party to court challenging the late Tsvangirai’s arbitrary appointment of Chamisa and Mudzuri to the posts of vice presidents.
The matter also split the opposition political party with Dr Thokozani Khupe winning a court order which stated that she was the legitimate leader of the MDC-T party.
Chamisa then went on to form the MDC Alliance party with other former MDC members who include Professor Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti and other small political parties ahead of the July 2018 elections.
It remains to be seen how the ruling will affect the MDC Alliance in the course of its political activities.
