Highlanders Football Club supporters have pledged they will stand in oneness with FC Platinum when it goes for battle against South African giants Orlando Pirates next Saturday in CAF Champions League action.
Highlanders may share similarities in their attire colours and battle rituals with the Buccaneers, but patriotism will reign supreme when Zimbabwe’s representatives in the African Safari FC Platinum take to the turf to battle Orlando Pirates in the first of the CAF Champions League group stage matches.
This is the assurance coming from Bosso who are rallying their supporters to come for next Saturday’s match and give the platinum miners that home support it needs after a CAF directive that condemned its home venue Mandava Stadium.
There will be no past defeat grudges for Pure Platinum Play as it represents a nation said Melusi Mnkandla the Bosso supporters representative for Bulawayo Chapter who promised Barbourfields Stadium will be packed with home fans rallying the Zimbabwean champions.
“We urge all our supporters to come in numbers and fill up the stadium. We will be supporting FC Platinum because it is our local team. We cannot support Orlando Pirates hence let’s all come in numbers and support our local team,” he said.
The sentiments are shared even at Highlanders executive level where the club’s Chief Executive Officer Nhlanhla Dube said there are behind FC Platinum one of their own.
When ZBC News crew visited Barbourfields Stadium, Bulawayo City Council officials were busy sprucing up the venue with ecstatic Bosso fans counting their luck and promising to rally Pure Platinum Play to victory.
With just a week to go before the first match of the group stages, the Norman Mapeza coached side has bolstered its strength by roping in Godknows Murwira and Perfect Chikwende from Ngezi Platinum and Bulawayo Chiefs into their squad.
