More than seven community teams drawn from Borrowdale district ward 18 battled it out at a tournament in Borrowdale which sought to promote the gospel of peaceful campaigns ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Officially launching the tournament, guest of honour Zanu PF Central Committee member for Harare North constituency Cde Justice Zvandasara commended the provincial leadership for uniting youths through sport which can also be used as a tool for peaceful campaigns.

Zanu PF aspiring candidate for Harare North constituency ward 18, Concillor Angeline Nyatanga said the tournament provided a platform to mobilise the youth as well as promote local sport and talent scouting.

Teams which participated in the tournament included Chimoio FC, Gono FC, Power FC, New Arrow FC, New March FC, Mother Acre FC and 1A with New Arrow emerging winners of the women’s netball matches while Hessel FC were men’s winners in soccer.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for peace before, during and after this year’s harmonised elections.

Harare North constituency has thus taken the lead by organising sporting events which promote peace and the integration of the youth.
