The UNESCO regional office of Southern Africa has officially launched a publication titled: ‘A Glimpse of the World Heritage Sites in Southern Africa at a ceremony held in Harare.

Speaking during the book launch, Regional Director and Representative of UNESCO to SADC, Professor Hubert Gizen said the book is an opportunity for people to celebrate the continent’s irreplaceable cultural heritage, while Mr Damir Dijakovic weighed in saying the book provides important country insights.

Guest speaker at the event, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, Ambassador Grace Mutandiro, who stood in for Minister Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, said through the publication, readers will be educated on the diversity and importance of Southern Africa’s heritage sites.

The publication, among other advantages, will also act as a tourist prospectus, showcasing the beauty of scenic sites in Southern Africa.
