The two – Fungai Zuva and Luke Masuwa – have been duping unsuspecting members of the public and some companies claiming that they were collecting donations on behalf of the NAC.
The main perpetrator, Fungai Zuva however failed to turn up for court resulting in a warrant of arrest being issued.
His accomplice, Luke Masuwa appeared before a Harare Magistrate and the case was deferred to the 9th of next month.
Allegations against the duo are that they forged a donation collection form with a national aids control program logo and went around residential areas and companies collecting funds claiming they were doing so on behalf of NAC.
NAC Chief Executive, Dr Tapiwa Magure said the council has never deployed employees to collect donations saying the public and companies should verify with the council before committing themselves.
The National Aids Council was enacted through an act of parliament and is mandated to administer the National Aids Trust Fund. NAC levies are collected through the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, ZIMRA.
