A 13 member delegation comprising of councillors and officers from Blantyre City Council are in the country to exchange notes with Harare City Council on how they can achieve their shared vision of attaining best city status in Africa.
Blantyre city shares the same vision with Harare city of attaining best city status in Africa in the next 10 to 15 years.
A team from the Blantyre City Council led by their Deputy Mayor Mr Joseph Makwinja visited Harare this week to exchange notes on how to strengthen their working relations.
Speaking to the ZBC News Mr Joseph Makwinja said their council is faced with a number of challenges including waste management, refuse collection and enforcement of their by-laws to discuss with their Harare counterparts on how to deal with these challenges.
Harare Mayor, Bernard Manyenyeni said the meeting is expected to strengthen their relations and upscale the two cities’ service delivery.
Despite a number of challenges, Harare City Council is working on a number programmes and projects to ensure a sustainable clean city including developing a framework which deals with waste management and illegal operations around the city.
