Black Rhinos progressed to the quarter finals of the Chibuku Super Cup after a 2-1 victory over Triangle at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.
The army side came back from a goal down to overcome Triangle at Rufaro Stadium.
Triangle took an early lead courtesy of a Russel Madamombe header in the 4th minute.
Lot Chiwunga could have equalised after finding himself in a promising position but fluffed his effort from close range.
Jameson Mukombwe then produced an impressive long range effort which was thwarted by Tapiwa Chilenga in goals for Triangle.
Rhinos were however rewarded for their enterprising play in the 18th minute when Chiwunga fired home impressively to hand the army side a much needed equaliser in a battle that went to the breather deadlocked at 1-1.
Lameck Nhamo fired his free kick wide just after the restart but it was Black Rhinos who were first to find a second half goal courtesy of a far post header by Farai Banda from a Mukombwe corner kick.
From then on Black Rhinos dictated pace as they registered a 2-1 win to progress to the last 8.
Stix Mtizwa was satisfied with his teams fighting spirit while Taurai Mangwiro was disappointed with the early cup exit.
In other encounters FC Platinum crashed out of the Chibuku Super Cup after a 1-0 loss to Chapungu while the encounter pitting Chicken Inn and Yadah FC was abandoned.
