Benjamin Lock stormed into the quarter-finals of the ITF Futures tournament after a 6-4, 6-3 straight sets win over South Africa’s Siphosothando Montsi.
Lock won the first set 6-4, before needing 1 hour 9 minutes to close off the second set 6-3 and win the match.
The tournament’s top seed was elated to progress to the next round.
The Zimbabwe Davis Cup player will now be hoping to better his first leg performance where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Also in action on Thursday was Mark Chigaazira who crashed out after a 6-2, 6-3 straight sets loss to Brazil’s Thales Turini.
Chigaazira was disappointed to bow out of the second leg but says focus will now be on the final leg.
Meanwhile, second seed Nicholas Scholtz progressed to the quarters after overcoming Nathaniel Lammons while third seed Matias Descotte of Argentina also marched into the last.
