Renowned sculptor Dominic Benhura has teamed up with Uzumba Orphancare Centre to assist underprivileged children in the area.

Although Benhura is famous worldwide for his story telling through pieces of stone, little is known about his humanitarian side.

The Mrewa born sculptor Benhura with the assistance of his Chinese partners donated some foodstuffs and stationery to pupils at Manyika Primary School who are looked after by the Uzumba Orphancare.

Benhura said from his own experience as an orphan, he knows the challenges they face which saw him mobilising resources to assist them (orphans).

Uzumba legislator Cde Simbaneuta Mdarikwa thanked Benhura and his friends for the donation which he said will go a long way in assisting the children.

Formed in 1995, Uzumba Orphancare Centre looks after 100 orphans from the area.
