Varsity Leopards reignited their hopes of an HBA title following a 62-59 victory over reigning champions, Mbare Heat, which pushed them to first position on the log standings.

Heat’s loss was the first of the season after a 15-match unbeaten run.

Costa Dinha, Tafadzwa Ngwenya and Tawanda Nemutambwe of Varsity Leopards were the outstanding players.

In another encounter at Richwood Park, sixth placed Trail blazers humbled struggling Hawks 100-17, while Cheetahs dismissed Hustlaz 56-36 to close the gap to one point.

Cameo Sigauke regained momentum following a 56-41 victory over Black Rhinos.

In the only B’ league encounter, fifth placed Drifters demolished South Central 20-0 at Richwood Park on Saturday.

On the women’s arena, Varsity dispatched rivals Las Models 102-45, while Trail Blazers beat struggling Hawks 97-30.
