One person was killed while 16 were injured, 5 of them seriously when a Harare bound Tenda bus overturned in the batch area near Banket along the Harare-Chirundu road.
The deceased is one of the conductors of the bus who died on the spot when the accident occurred.
Of the 16 injured, 11 were treated and discharged at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital while three are still admitted at the health facility and two others who are critical were scheduled for a transfer to Parirenyatwa Hospital.
One of the survivors Mr Luckson Magwenzi narrated what happened.
Magwenzi allege the driver must have been dozing and panicked when a crew member tried to wake him up leading to loss of control upon approaching Munene bridge.
He said the bus swerved and frantic attempts to avoid plunging into the river led it to overturn after crossing the river.
The bus is said to have been coming from Zambia and had 29 passengers on board.
