Officially opening the Mashonaland East Provincial Agricultural Show in Marondera, Cde Nkomo appealed to financial institutions to revise their lending policies to accommodate most farmers who are failing to access loans to boost their productivity.

Cde Nkomo also challenged farmers to consider processing their products for value addition.

The theme for this year’s show was “Improving agricultural production through efficient use of available resources and appropriate responses to climatic change.”

The show was also attended by Marondera-Wedza Senator, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi, Mashonaland East Governor and Resident Minister, Cde Aeneas Chigwedere, Retired Army General, Cde Solomon Mujuru and the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Dr Herbert Murerwa.

Farmers who excelled walked away with various prizes that included scotch carts, wheel-barrows, ploughs, harrows, seed and fertilisers.
