Chefs from Bulawayo have teamed up for a baking expo where they intend to showcase and exchange ideas as they prepare for the upcoming international exhibition to be held next month.

Baking Expo Organising Secretary, Mrs Joy Fred said the chefs will compete and undergo a two-day cookery training led by a Cape Town-based expert.

“We are going to have three categories of participants that are high schools, tertiary and an open show. We feel that we can produce good stuff, so we need to boost our confidence and nourish our skills to exhibit better products at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). We have invited a professional chef from Cape Town to come and workshop our bakers so that they improve on baking and exhibiting what they produce,” said Mrs Fred.

A number of bakers will battle out for prizes on the 24th of this month at the main pavilion at the international exhibition centre.

Many are hopeful that as a result of the new economic order, this year’s ZITF will attract thousands of exhibitors and investors.
