Dissemination of information on intellectual property and rights to people has been described as key in curbing all forms of piracy.

Piracy is one key factor that has been affecting the book, visual arts and music industries in Zimbabwe.

Speaking to the ZBC News on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) in Harare today, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora said they are disseminating information to school heads and procurement heads on the law that criminalises photocopying of books.

This year’s 33rd edition of the ZIBF comes on the backdrop of the new education curriculum and the ministry commended efforts by exhibitors and publishers to incorporate the new curriculum in their programmes.

Publishers said they have already started distributing books in line with the new curriculum.

ZIBF exhibitions began today until the 5th of August at the Harare Gardens under the theme: ‘Making the Book Pay.’
