The Head of State and Government and Commander In Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe, has encouraged Zimbabweans to avoid any form of violence and treat each other with dignity and respect.
Cde Mugabe was speaking at the National Sports Stadium in Harare today at celebrations to mark 30 years of Zimbabweâ€™s independence.
He said the leadership of the Global Political Agreement urges the nation to desist from any form of violence and that the Organ on Naional Healing and Reconciliation continues with its work to promote peace and stability in the country.
Cde Mugabe said the government is taking measures to mitigate the effects of the dry spell and ensure food security.
He added that the government has embarked on many programmes to create opportunities for people to own their natural resourcesÂ through the land resettlement programme and the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act.
