vp mujuru with aussies ambassador 03-08-11ed.pngAustralian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr. Mathew Neuhaus has applauded the prevailing socio-political environment in the country and has expressed optimism of a favourable outcome when European countries which imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe meet for the periodical review of the illegal sanctions.

Ambassador Neuhaus made the remarks after paying a courtesy call on Vice President Joice Mujuru at her Munhumutapa offices in Harare.

Addressing journalists after a closed door meeting with Cde Mujuru, Ambassador Neuhaus commended the socio-economic stability currently obtaining in the country which he attributed to the inclusive government.

Australia has been at the forefront in blocking the exportation of the Marange diamonds and also opposed the lifting of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Neuhaus is however upbeat about the improving relations between Harare and Sydney and has expressed hope of a favourable outcome for Zimbabwe when the time comes for the EU leadership meet for the periodical review of the sanctions issue.

Ambassador Neuhaus was seconded to come and represent his country in January this year. He is also serving as ambassador of Australia in Zambia, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
