A local audit firm has embarked on a drive to reduce financial management and corporate governance gaps that exist in schools administration.
The firm has since invited headmasters and school development committee (SDC) chairpersons from across Harare to a workshop in order to capacitate them with necessary information.
Program Coordinator, Ms Fadzai Ndudzo said the workshop was convened to bridge the financial management gap after a worrying trend was established during routine audit processes in schools.
“The main objective is to impart requisite skills to headmasters and SDC chairpersons for them to be able to run their institutions according to the tenets of good corporate governance,” she said.
Participants who benefited from the workshop hailed the audit firm, saying the information imparted to them is priceless and will help them run their educational institutions more effectively.
Financial prudence at any organisation brings efficiency and effectiveness which makes it easier to achieve organisational goals.
