The 30th AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government will officially open in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this Sunday and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa is among other African leaders, officials of the AU Commission and Organs and representatives from partner organisations attending the opening session.

Elections to choose the new Bureau of the Assembly of the AU and the new AU Chairperson for 2019 will be held during the opening session.

Earlier today, the heads of state attended a closed session of the 30th AU Summit to consider a report of the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, as well as adopt Assembly decisions and declarations.
