A ‘Peace of Art’ creative competition has seen young artists from around Harare coming together and showing various works of art that express opinions and experiences on various social issues. The initiative which is held every year under the theme “A Peace of Art†is a call to artists between the ages of 15 to 30 years to participate for them to learn more on various artistic mediums which include drawing, sculpture, paint, photography, dance, poetry, drama song and film.
According to the Creative Director of the Zimbabwe German Society, Roberta Wagner, the idea is to instil peace education in artists at the same time promoting artistic development in line with the many socio-political issues.
Goeth-Institute Information Officer, Clare Shambira says the idea is to support young upcoming artists and to give them a platform where they can present their works and create new works for career development.
Recently the Zimbabwe Germany Society hosted an exhibition by two young visual artists, Richard Mudariki and Mukudzei Muzondo.
The Zimbabwe Germany Society has become a hub for arts exhibitions where artists from Zimbabwe share their experiences with artists coming from different cultures and traditions.
