An art exhibition that celebrates Zimbabwean designs is on display at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe as part of Africa Day and the gallery’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

The exhibition staged by the National Gallery of Zimbabwe titled: ‘Zimbabwe in Design – Five Stories in Zimbabwean Design,’ outlines the country’s creative endeavour through five different angles of utility in order to acquaint viewers with the historical creative consciousness which the nation possesses.

National Gallery of Zimbabwe Chief Curator, Raphael Chikukwa said the exhibition showcases designs that include fashion, hair, graphic design, material culture and applied design on traditional structure as the country commemorates and celebrates African identity and civilisation.

The exhibition is an archival reference to the early civilisations and how it has impacted on the modern day developments that symbolise identity, physical and mental independence.
