court.jpgThe Attorney-General’s office has dropped armed robbery charges against a six-man gang that allegedly attacked the late Dr Christopher Mushonga, as they will now face a murder charge in the High Court.

The charges were altered after Dr Mushonga died from injuries the state says were sustained in the robbery last year.

However, the six are still facing other counts of armed robbery after they allegedly robbed the policeman at Dr Mushonga’s house of his AK-47 rifle.

The state says they used the rifle to commit a spate of robberies around Harare.

Last week, Prosecutor Mr Cuthbert Mukandire withdrew before plea the count on which the gang allegedly robbed Dr Mushonga.

Harare Regional Magistrate, Mr William Bhila, deferred the matter to today for continuation of trial.
