Government officials have visited the Tugwi Mukosi dam where they will be discussing the implementation of the anchor projects at the dam. Among the officials are Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrence Shiri, Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Ezra Chadzamira, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Amon Murwira and Politburo member Cde Josiah Hungwe.
After a meeting to discuss the progress on projects set to be implemented at the dam, the officials will tour the dam and the mini hydro site.
The visit comes at a time when locals in Chivi are calling on government to speed up the implementation of the projects to ensure communities start to benefit from the giant water body.
Minister Chadzamira has called for the local community to be involved in the planning of the Tugwi Mukosi dam projects, indicating that it is worrisome that communities continue to suffer yet the province has such a huge water body whose water is not being utilised.
