The third annual Ambassadors Cup Polo tournament will be held from the 6th to the 7th of July at the Bushman Rock in Ruwa with eight teams battling it out for top honours.

The prestigious tournament, where one team will be crowned the ‘Best in Zimbabwe,’ is a showcase of the country’s prime talent.

, Andrew Moore, a representative of Carrick Wealth, the company sponsoring the event, said the tourney is part of their corporate social responsibility as some of the raised funds will be donated to St Josephs Home for Boys in Harare which cares for more than 50 orphaned and abandoned children.

Though it has been previously regarded as an elitist sport, polo has over the years gained popularity in Zimbabwe.

Currently, there are only three clubs and between 35 to 42 registered polo players in Zimbabwe.

This year’s event is open to the public as a way of bringing the relatively unknown sport to a wider audience.

Running under the theme: ‘Pretty Posh-Oh My Gosh,’ the tournament will also see guests battling it out for the best dressed award.
