19-year-old Glen Norah man, Basillio Simbi, who is facing charges of murdering his father, has been remanded in custody to the 28th of December by Harare magistrate, Rumbidzayi Mugwagwa.

Simbi allegedly brutally murdered his father while asleep before mutilating his body and dumping it in a storm drain this week.

The accused was remanded in custody to the 28th of December where he is expected to plead to the charges.

Murder cases are dealt with by the High Court so the accused can only apply for bail at that court.

Meanwhile, ex-President Robert Mugabe’s son-in-law, Simba Chikore’s unlawful detention trial has been further remanded to the 24th of January for trial.

Chikore’s lawyer, Jonathan Samukange said he is optimistic that his client will be exonerated as the charges are politically motivated.

Samukange also said the defence outline is ready and he is convinced of a positive outcome based on the overwhelming defence evidence.
