All is set for the World Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day to be held this month to commemorate the importance of corporate social investment by corporate citizens.
The CSR Network Zimbabwe in partnership with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and other several stakeholders that include the business community, development partners, government and local authorities, non-governmental organisations and youth organisations will join the rest of the world on February 23 in celebrating World CSR Day.
Running under the theme, “Corporate Social Investment-Towards the Attainment of Sustainable Development Goals”, the event will see the CSR Network carry out various corporate social responsibility activities across the country.
CSR is the organisation’s initiatives to take responsibility for the company’s effects on environmental and social well being of society in which it conducts its business.
It applies to efforts which go beyond what is generally required by regulators and it is worrying that companies in Zimbabwe are doing little to alleviate the social and economic challenges being experienced by certain disadvantaged groups of society.
In this regard the CSR Network Zimbabwe is inviting stakeholders to be part of this momentous event.
By participating on this day, companies show their commitment that they are socially responsible and they uphold the values of corporate social responsibility.
