hiv_aids.gifWorld AIDS Day commemorations are set to be held on Wednesday this week.

In an interview, National Aids Council Communications Officer, Mr Orirando Manwere said this year’s main commemorations will be held at Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma  Mashonaland West.

He said the theme for this year’s commemorations is “Universal access and human rights, together we will make it” which is a continuation of the 2009-2010 theme.

The day comes at a time when people are being called upon to redouble and sychronise their efforts towards scaling up treatment, care, support and upholding the rights of people affected and infected by HIV.

Last year’s commemorations were held in Victoria Falls in Matabeleland North province.

World Aids Day which is observed on the 1st of December each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
