The Tobacco Industries and Marketing Board (TIMB) says the state of preparedness by the four auction floors ahead of the 2012 tobacco marketing season is well on course with 2 564 growers having booked for the first sale this Wednesday.
The auction floors have all indicated their preparedness to receive deliveries from farmers starting this Wednesday.
TIMB CEO, Dr Andrew Matibiri, said Zimbabwe is likely to receive a boost in terms of an increased tobacco demand this season owing to the challenges facing Brazil and the United States due to heavy floods that destroyed their crop.
When ZBC News visited Premier and Boka Tobacco Auction Floors, final touches were being put in place.
As from Monday, 696 bales of tobacco have so far been delivered to the auction floors and more growers continue to make bookings.
