All is now set for the hosting of the ZIFA awards.
The awards will see the country’s all time top performing football and other stakeholders being honoured in the capital on the 24th of this month.
The event will take place at the Harare International Conference Centre where a number of categories will be up for grabs.
With an SMS platform to select the best footballer of all times already up and running, Chairperson of the Organising Committee and ZIFA vice president Omega Sibanda expressed the football mother body’s delight at the excitement it has generated among football fans.
ZIFA has asked fans to vote for some of the awards.
These include the Legendary Football Award, whose nominees are former Warriors goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar, Moses Chunga, Peter Ndlovu and George Shaya.
Other categories include best post independence international football player, outstanding Zimbabwean referee, outstanding senior men’s national team coach from 1980 to date, best Zimbabwean player abroad in the current season, among other categories.
During the same evening, the player with the all time highest number of national team caps is also set to be honoured together with all the past ZIFA chairpersons and presidents.
Guests will be entertained by a stellar line-up of performers across genres, among them music icon Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Soul Jah Love, dendera ace Sulumani Chimbetu, Iyasa and Amara Brown.
