All is set for the national clean-up campaign to be held tomorrow in all the country’s 10 provinces.

The main event will be launched by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at Takashinga Sports Club in Highfield, Harare.

Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Permanent Secretary, Mr Munesushe Munodawafa said the campaign programme is aimed at instilling a culture of maintaining a clean environment and changing the attitude of every citizen.

“The exercise will be conducted in all the provinces and it is one way of preventing cholera and other related diseases,” he said.

Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Director General, Mr Aaron Chigona said they have put in place monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance in the maintenance of a clean environment.

Harare Town Clerk, Engineer Hosiah Chisango revealed about 2 000 council employees will be taking part in the clean-up programme.

The national cleaning programme comes as part of a long term solution in addressing cholera outbreaks and inculcating a culture of hygiene in all Zimbabweans.
