All is now set for the third edition of the Mupfurudzi Winter Chess Festival to be held in Shamva, Mashonaland Central this Saturday.

Mupfurudzi Primary School and Zimbabwe Chess Foundation in partnership with ToseSonke will be hosting the festival.chess.jpg

Tournament director Tinarwo Muzorori said the festival is aimed at developing and nurturing talent in young chess masters from across the country.

Mupfurudzi has developed chess players who have represented Zimbabwe at international level which include the likes of Panashe Zimbili, Ropafadzo Mandizha and Kunashe Muzorori to mention a few.

More than 30 schools and 150 participants are expected to take part in the event and there are lots of prizes up for grabs.

The tournament which is used as part of preparations for the Africa Youth Chess championship to be hosted by Zimbabwe in August, shall have five sections which are U8, U10, U12, U14 and the masters section.
