Following the just ended Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union (ZCFU) Annual General Meeting held in Harare, suppliers have expressed their preparedness for the forthcoming season, saying they are committed to ensuring enough supply of both seed and chemicals to the farmers.

SEEDCO Spokesperson, Mr Ivan Craig said there is enough seed for the season and the problem of having fake seed on the street is now a thing of the past.

“We have been prepared since February and we have in stock seed that suits all farming regions,” said Mr Graig.

Agricura Technical Advisor, Devilious Jamela said the organisation has in stock chemicals for major crops and commended the ZCFU for organising the expo as it brings them closer to the farmers.

“We are very ready and we have chemicals for all major crops such as maize, tobacco and sorghum. I want to thank the ZCFU for organising such an expo as it has enabled us to meet with the farmers and deliberate on how best we can improve our agricultural sector,” said Jamela.

The ZCFU Annual General Meeting is an annual event which enables farmers and various stakeholders in the agricultural sector to meet, showcase their products and address challenges they face in their business.
This year’s AGM comes at time when the agricultural sector has shown signs of improvement with tobacco sales exceeding the projected estimates.
